Alpine huts in Ahrntal Valley and Sand in Taufers/Campo Tures

Kasiserschmarrn, speck dumplings, grey cheese, apple strudel...

Whether original or a modern version, whether ancient and askew or newly renovated, whether covered with wooden shingles or tiles, whether with a traditional rustic, dark wood-paneled Tyrolean Stube or filled with light – as different as the Alpine meadow cabins and refuges in the Ahrntal Valley and Sand in Taufers/Campo Tures can be, they all have one thing in common: since time immemorial, they have been a destination and a shelter in the high mountains, and above all else, an opportunity to dive into the traditional (dining) culture of the unique hiking area.

Many Alpine meadow cabins and refuges are also open in the winter, offering those on tours, people flying by on skis, and snowshoe hikers moments of warmth and sustenance.
